🚀 Getting Started

Welcome to ProfitGuard Pro! Here's how to get the most out of your profit analytics:

1. Install the app from the Shopify App Store
2. Start your 14-day free trial — no credit card required
3. Import your COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) for accurate profit calculations
4. Explore the Dashboard to see your profit health score and key metrics
5. Check the Action Center for alerts ranked by financial impact

📊 Dashboard

The Dashboard gives you a real-time overview of your store's profitability:

• Profit Health Score: A 0-100 score showing your overall profit health
• Net Profit: Revenue minus all costs (COGS, refunds, discounts, fees)
• Profit Margin: Your profit as a percentage of revenue
• Refund Rate: Percentage of orders refunded
• Active Alerts: Issues that need your attention
• Trend Charts: 30-day trends for revenue and profit

📈 Metrics

Deep dive into your store's financial metrics:

• Revenue Breakdown: Gross revenue, net revenue after discounts
• Cost Analysis: COGS, shipping costs, payment processing fees
• Refund Analysis: Total refunds, refund rate trends
• Discount Impact: How discounts affect your margins
• Time Comparison: Compare current period vs previous period

⚡ Action Center

Your command center for fixing profit issues:

• Ranked Alerts: Issues sorted by financial impact (highest first)
• Recoverable Amount: Estimated money you could recover
• Action Suggestions: Specific steps to fix each issue
• Snooze: Temporarily hide alerts you're working on
• Resolve: Mark issues as fixed

Alert Types:

• 🔴 Refund Rate Spike — Refund rate increased significantly
• 🟠 Revenue Drop — Revenue decreased compared to previous period
• 🟡 Discount Overuse — Discount rate higher than threshold
• 🔵 Order Volume Drop — Fewer orders than expected

📦 Product Profit

See profitability at the product level:

• Per-Product Margins: Net profit and margin for each product
• Best Performers: Products with highest profit contribution
• Worst Performers: Products that may need repricing or removal
• COGS Integration: Accurate costs from your imported data

📭 Dead Inventory

Identify products tying up your cash:

• No Sales (60+ days): Products with no orders in 60+ days
• Cash Tied Up: Inventory value sitting unsold
• Recommendations: Discount, bundle, or discontinue suggestions

Requires Advanced plan or higher

🤖 AI Weekly Summary

Get a plain-English explanation of your profit trends:

• Weekly Analysis: AI-generated summary of the past week
• Key Insights: What changed and why it matters
• Recommendations: Suggested actions based on trends
• Email Delivery: Optionally receive summaries via email

🔍 Cause Finder

Understand why refunds happen:

• Top Refunded Products: Which products get refunded most
• Refund Patterns: When and why refunds occur
• Root Cause Analysis: Identify systemic issues

Requires Advanced plan or higher

⚙️ Alert Thresholds

Customize when you get alerted:

• Refund Rate Threshold: Alert when refund rate increases by X points
• Revenue Drop Threshold: Alert when revenue drops by X%
• Discount Rate Threshold: Alert when discount usage spikes
• Order Drop Threshold: Alert when order volume decreases

Presets: Relaxed, Balanced (default), Strict

Custom thresholds require Advanced plan or higher

💰 COGS Import

Import your Cost of Goods Sold for accurate profit calculations:

Option 1: Sync from Shopify

If you use Shopify's "Cost per item" field in your product inventory, click "Sync from Shopify" to automatically import costs.

Option 2: CSV Upload

Upload a CSV file with your product costs:

Columns: sku (required), cost (required)
